Several lightning strikes near the Air Force Academy this afternoon with dry thunderstorms. One of them in Jack's Valley started a fire that many people saw late Monday.
Wind speeds will pick up in the late morning and be strongest between 1pm and 6pm. Gusts may be near 40mph along the Front Range and even higher over the mountain ridge tops.
The combination of drought, heat, wind and very dry air will lead to weather conditions capable of causing explosive fire growth Tuesday.
Record heat again on Tuesday. With the sunrise comes a quick rise in temperatures that will zip us past the record high of 93 in Colorado Springs and 100 in Pueblo for the second straight day.
