MONTE VISTA, Colo -

Monte Vista Police are trying to calm the fears of their small community west of Walsenburg and Alamosa. A double homicide has this town of less than four thousand on edge.

Monday morning about 4:18, there was a call into police about shots fired at a home at 530 Lyell Avenue. 29 year old Sara Beasley was found dead inside this home. Her signficant other, 54 year old John Salazar was found dead outside. There is also a drug reference tagged on the outside of the home. Police Chief Rick Needham can't confirm if the tagging is linked to the killings.

Investigators are looking for what they're labeling a person of interest last seen leaving the area. Here is his description. He is 5-7, overweight and dressed in all black. He was wearing a ski mask, jacket, pants and gloves.

We've learned that Sara Beasley was a mom of 3 boys. John Salazar was a custodian for the Monte Vista School District. An autopsy is pending on the couple to learn more about their deaths.

Monte Vista Police says Beasley's children are being cared for. Questions pertaining to them should be director to the Rio Grand County Department of Social Services at (719) 657-4208.
