Cañon City Catholic Hospital Argues Unborn Not People

The Colorado State Supreme Court may hear a lawsuit over the unborn filed against the hospital in Cañon City.

Saint Thomas Moore Hospital is run by Catholic Health Initiatives.

They were sued after a pregnant woman died and the hospital did not try to save her unborn 7 month old sons.

Hospital lawyers argued the boys were only fetuses and not legally considered people.

Although the hospital won the court decision, that argument is completely opposite the church's viewpoint on the unborn.

Now 3 top bishops -- from Denver, Colorado Springs and Pueblo -- are reviewing the decision.

They say they extend solidarity and sympathy to the husband who sued the hospital.

He is appealing the case to the state supreme court.
