The Army is adding some new rules at Fort Carson that it hopes encourage more responsible drinking.
Alcohol distributors can no longer give out free alcohol samples to on duty soldiers. It is also requiring anyone purchasing alcohol on the base to have their military ID, not just a picture ID.
Finally, beginning Friday convenience stores in Fort Carson will not be allowed to sell alcohol between midnight and 8 am.
The rule change regulating hours in which convenience stores can sell alcohol brings Fort Carson in line with Colorado state law.
