COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

The 38-year-old accused in a deadly hit-and-run crash on Thursday night has lengthy history of traffic violations.

The accident happened May 3rd at the intersection of Airport Road and South Circle Drive.

David Henley turned himself in on Tuesday. Police said a tip led them to him.

The victim, Ricardo "Ricky" Figueroa, was running home when he tripped in the road near the A Tire & Wheels shop. Witnesses said he was struck violently by the truck, which kept going without stopping.

According to court documents, it isn't the first time Henley has been in trouble.

In 1993 and 2003, documents show he was arrested and later convicted for stealing vehicles.

In 2005, more records show Henley was convicted of vehicular eluding.

Before this crash, his license had been revoked. Henley is expected to be sentenced on Thursday for the violation last December.

Police also impounded a custom truck matching the primered gray vehicle described by witnesses.

Figueroa was an eighth-grader preparing to graduate from Galileo School of Math and Science. He was looking forward to starting at Wasson High School in the fall.

Figueroa's funeral was held Wednesday.
