Weekend GMC Meteorologist/Reporter

I have lived in Colorado since 1991 and have always enjoyed how the weather changes so quickly. During my time in college at the University of Northern Colorado I studied communications and media studies, and knew that weather was where I should be, and am currently working on finishing my meteorology degree. I got my start in Cheyenne, Wyoming at KGWN channel 5 as the weekend weather and weekday reporter in June 2009 after graduation, and I quickly moved up to weekday morning weather position in August. Living in Colorado for most of my life and forecasting for the area I know how tricky it can be and love having that challenge everyday. Weather has always been a passion for my family and I am proud to say that I am following in the foot steps of my father, Mike Nelson who is the Chief Meteorologist of our sister station in Denver, Channel 7. I know how important weather is to the people of Colorado and I am excited to work with the best meteorologists in southern Colorado to bring you the most accurate forecast possible.
I have moved into the weekend morning weather position and am excited to be part of the STORMTRACKER 13 team. I love being able to make it to the mountains for those fresh powder days and snowboarding with my family. My wife (Katie) and I have always wanted to stay in Colorado because we could not dream about living in a place that was more amazing than this.
