Aspen to grocers: Expect audits on bag use
Officials in Aspen say grocery stores can expect government audits to ensure they are complying with an ordinance that requires a 20-cent charge for paper bags.
The Aspen City Council has also banned plastic bags.
The Aspen Daily News reports the city's two major grocery stores have paid the city nearly $45,000 since the new law went into effect last year.
