Giron supporters scrutinizing recall petition signatures

Supporters of Democratic Pueblo state Sen. Angela Giron are knocking on doors and calling those who signed a petition to recall her. Members of Pueblo United for Angela say they want to make sure people know what they signed.
Daniel Bravo signed the petition. On Wednesday afternoon, he received two calls from different people. He said the callers asked if he wanted to remove his name from the petition. He said no. Both times he asked who he was speaking to but said each time the caller hung up on him.
"I felt like I was being harassed only because they wouldn't tell me who they were," Bravo said.
Bravo voted for Giron in 2010, but now he wants her out of office.
The recall effort is getting scrutiny on both sides. KRDO-TV obtained a video in which you can hear Victor Head, the organizer behind the recall, talking about store managers from two local businesses bringing employees to sign the petition, all while still being on the clock.
In the video, Head says, "He drove his employees, one at a time, back to us," Head said with a chuckle. "Tell them to do it. Encourage 'em."
Giron's supporters said it was an intimidation tactic.
"Can you imagine if you're on your job, your boss comes to you, tells you to hop in the car, we're gonna go do something. What are you gonna do? Your livelihood depends on it. You're not gonna go against your boss. You're gonna sign the petition. I think that's intimidation," said Christopher Shallow, campaign manager for Pueblo United for Angela.
Head defends his actions. "I think it's totally unfounded. I mean if someone's intimidated, I'd like to hear from them."
Shallow said callers are reading off of a script and identifying themselves. Shallow said the group received three calls on Wednesday from people who signed the petition, saying they didn't realize that a recall meant getting Giron out of office.
Giron's supporters wouldn't say if or how many people have removed themselves from the recall petition.
