The number one most wanted sex offender in Colorado was arrested Wednesday, but law enforcement is still looking for more offenders.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and El Paso County Sheriff's deputies arrested Roger Dale Price, 61. He had an outstanding warrant for failing to register as a sex offender. He was convicted of multiple counts of kidnapping and sex assault against a child in Arkansas in 1999. His crimes earned him spot number one on Colorado's top 100 most wanted sex offender list.
"As Roger Price is a sexually violent predator, and because of the severity of his convictions, he was in that top spot," said CBI spokesperson Susan Medina.
The CBI considers different factors, like the type and severity of a crime to put the list together and determine rankings.
"Obviously if somebody is a sexually violent predator, they're going to be in those tops spots," Medina said. "If somebody has a violent history, including assaults or child abuse, those types of charges, they're going to move up on the list."
Medina calls the list fluid. Analysts check and update it constantly, and investigators work to find all the offenders, no matter the rank.
"Even if somebody's in the number one position or the 100, we take them all seriously, and we're looking to get all of them off the streets," Medina said.
Price wasn't the only fugitive on the list captured this week. Law enforcement also arrested Eugene Allen Parker, number 16 on the list, and Apolonio Paul Flores, number 62 on the list.
Medina said the community is a big help in catching fugitives. If you have any information about anyone on the list, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or the CBI tip line at (303) 239-5732. Under both lines, you can remain anonymous. Medina said the more detail you can give, the more it helps them.
