DENVER (AP) -

Denver police arrested two people in Independence Day protests over government surveillance.

The Denver Post reported that a small crowd in Denver joined national protests over spying by the U.S. government. The protesters marched a short distance from the state Capitol.

Police Lt. Adam Hernandez confirmed that two people were arrested. He said he didn't know the names of the two who were arrested or the charges they face.

Nationwide, anti-surveillance protests cropped up in a number of cities on Independence Day with activists speaking out against recent disclosures that the National Security Agency has been secretly logging people's phone calls and Internet activity.

In Utah, security guards forced about 150 people away from an NSA data center in a Salt Lake City suburb.
