3 killed in I-25 crash, victims identified

The names of three people who died in a rollover crash on I-25 south of Colorado Springs have been released.

The accident happened in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 13, 2013. The car went off the road about five miles south of Fountain, near Pikes Peak International Raceway.

Four people were riding in the car when it rolled. The driver, Jade Valdez, 23, suffered serious injuries in the crash.

Victor Hernandez-Briano, 30, Aushlaey Maldonado, 21, and Eladio Esparza-Hernandez, 33, were killed.

Hernandez-Briano and Esparza-Hernandez were Mexican citizens. State Patrol says the Mexican Consulate has been notified of their deaths. All four people riding in the car were thrown out of the vehicle when it hit a guardrail and rolled.

Troopers say alcohol and driver fatigue are considered contributing factors in the crash.

Valdez is recovering from injuries sustained in the crash at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. State Patrol says charges against her are pending.
