AURORA, Colo. -

Police in Aurora say a naked man holding what appeared to be a carving knife and a machete allegedly struck two officers before one fatally shot him at a home.

Police say paramedics and officers went to the home Tuesday afternoon after relatives called for help because of the man's abnormal behavior. Paramedics tried talking to the 55-year-old man, who was naked, but retreated after he grabbed what witnesses described as a machete.

Sgt. Cassidee Carlson says officers arrived to see the man naked and holding two knives. She says the man struck two officers, and one officer fired at least once at the man, who died at a hospital.

Carlson says the officer's injuries aren't serious.

Police didn't immediately release names of those involved. Detectives are investigating the shooting.
