DENVER -

Denver police confirmed via Twitter Friday morning that the suspect killed in a Texas chase and shootout is also suspected in the death of a Denver-area pizza delivery man.

Evan Spencer Ebel, 28, is a suspected member of a white supremacist prison gang.

A law enforcement source also confirmed to the Denver Post that the man is suspected in the death of Tom Clements, executive director of the Colorado Dept. of Corrections.

On Thursday, Ebel was killed outside of Dallas after Texas authorities say he shot a deputy and then led officers on a high-speed chase before the car he was driving was struck by a semi.

Ebel got out of the vehicle and began firing at deputies, according to officials. He was injured by the return fire and was later taken off life support after doctors harvested his organs.

At the time of the chase and shootout, Ebel was driving a black car with Colorado license plates. The vehicle matches the description of a car seen in Clements' neighborhood on the night he was killed.

El Paso County authorities say Clements answered his door Tuesday night and was shot in the chest. El Paso County officials are now looking into Ebel as a possible suspect in the case.

Meanwhile, Denver police say they are investigating the possibility that Ebel may have killed Nathan Leon , a pizza delivery driver.
