Colorado Springs Police have taken a suspect into custody linked to three robberies Monday afternoon and possibly a string of others. Police said there may be another man involved in the crimes who's still on the loose.
It started at about 12:45 p.m. when a man tried to rob KS Barber Shop in the 800 block of N. Institute Street. The owner of the shop told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that it was the same man who robbed her last week, and when she saw him, she shoved him out the door.
Nearly an hour later, a man with a similar description was caught on camera at a gas station in Rockrimmon. Employees said he took a candy bar, and soon after he left, a robbery took place at the Dunkin' Donuts next door at 6660 Delmonico Drive.
Police said the suspect had a gun in his pocket but didn't pull it out. Employees tell us the man got away with $100, and allegedly said, "I'm going to go to jail for this."
The next robbery report happened at Elmer's Place Convenience Store at 404 S. Prospect Street.
Police said they had a good description of the suspect's red Acura and were able to track the man down at the intersection of Uintah Street and Nevada Avenue.
"When they pulled his car over there and looked in it, they pulled a gun out from underneath the seat and a bunch of cash," said Lacey Carter, a Colorado College students who witnessed the arrest.
Police said they didn't have any description of the second man who may be involved in the robberies, but their investigation is continuing. The name of the man arrested hasn't been released.
