Veterans Administration Clinic Nurse Practitioner brightens up the days of veterans.

Lynne Prouhet is a helping hand at the Veterans Administration Clinic in Colorado Springs.  She is a Nurse Practitioner and really loves her job, "Working with veterans really inspires me.  It's really nice to see people take charge of their health."

Prouhet told me that take charge attitude of your own health has to start with good information and willpower to make changes, happen.  She told me about one Vet who had that attitude after she gave him the info to work with, "He was diagnosed with Diabetes and he was not going to continue to work because of his abnormal lab levels.  He started eating healthier and taking the prescribed meds.  Within five months, he was able to totally turn things around.  Now he's feeling great and he's back to work."

Lynne's boss is Carolyn Jewell.  Carolyn's daughter is a veteran, too. "Actually my daughter goes to Lynne.  She really likes Lynne.  I'm very proud of Lynne's dedication, commitment and professionalism that she provides everyday to every single veteran."

Lynne's patients range in age from 18 years old to veterans in their 90's.  She's the wife of a vet who is now helping vets.  She's been with the V.A. Clinic for more than two years.  Previously she was at Fort Carson for nearly ten years.

Lynne Prouhet was nominated by someone to be our Wear Red Friday Hero.  If you know someone who is in the military or supports the military in a unique way, go back to our main page and scroll down to the right side of the page to our Wear Red section.  The nomination form is on there.
