Police Search for Armed Robber

PUEBLO, Colo. -

At least twelve businesses in Pueblo have been robbed so far this year.

Pueblo police officers believe most of these armed robberies are related. The police department said one to two suspects are behind the majority of them.

The latest robbery happened Wednesday night just before 9 p.m. at a Dollar General store on 609 Pueblo Boulevard. Sgt. Eric Gonzales said most of these robberies are happening on the south end of Pueblo, around Pueblo Boulevard.

So far, no one has been injured. But this weekend police are stepping up enforcement to make sure no one does. At least four officers will be working overtime at night to find the suspect.

"Currently we have detectives working the daytime hours, but these extra officers are gonna be focusing pretty much on the same thing. Following leads, following tips, watching businesses and seeing if we can be in an area if something just happens to be going on at that time," Gonzales said.

Police said the suspect has robbed businesses using different weapons, from a machete and a rifle to a small, black handgun and a shotgun.

In every case, the suspect has fled on foot and no one has seen a getaway vehicle. If witnesses see a vehicle, police urge them to write down a licenseĀ  plate number and contact police.

The suspect is described as a white male, between 25 and 30 years old, weighing between 165 to 175 pounds. He usually goes into stores wearing a hooded jacket, either a black mask or a white ski mask and gloves.
