A homeowner involved in a standoff with police at West 13th Street and Baxter Street in Pueblo surrendered, police said.
Police said the situation started around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday when a 26-year-old Brent Mede tried to enter a home without permission. The homeowner, 44-year-old Jack Medina, shot the intruder in the leg, police said. Police told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that Medina knows Mede.
Medina then refused to come out of his home, police said. Around 10 a.m., Medina's brothers were able to convince him to surrender to police.
Mede was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was later released from the hospital.
Officers said they are questioning both Mede and Medina to determine if charges will be filed. Authorities are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
