Colorado Springs Police are looking for a suspect who fled from a stolen car Friday morning.
Three people ran from the car at 9:18 a.m. Friday. The 2012 silver Nissan rolled into an apartment at the Hill Park Apartments, police tell KRDO NewsChannel 13 and KRDO.COM.
The car crashed into the manager's apartment. There was no structural damage done to the building but the car broke one of the manager's windows. She did not want to go on camera but did say she was pleased with the way the Colorado Springs Police handled the incident.
Two of the suspects who ran have been captured, according to police. One was an adult male and the other was a juvenile male. The adult could be charged with theft. speeding, reckless driving and other traffic charges.
The situation prompted School District 11 to place Swigert Aerospace Academy and Roosevelt-Edison Charter Academy on lockdown for a time during the search.
Clinton Dodson lives at the apartment complex. He said the neighborhood has come a long way from where it used to be but he still sees a lot of crime in the area. He was not home at the time but he had a view of the car from his apartment window. He said he was disappointed to hear about the incident.
"You would think after years and years that things would get better, and they have gotten better but you still have people that try to do the same things that they used to do and try to get away with things that they shouldn't," said Dodson.
Police describe the third person in the vehicle as a Hispanic male in his upper teens with baggy pants.
