DENVER -

A teenager who prosecutors say confessed to killing a 10-year-old Westminster girl and attacking a runner has been charged as an adult.

Prosecutors filed 17 counts against Austin Sigg on Tuesday.

Sigg faces a total of 11 charges directly related to Jessica Ridgeway's death.  They include three counts of felony murder, second-degree kidnapping, second-degree kidnapping with criminal intent, sexual assault on a child and crime of violence.

An additional six charges were also issued against Sigg relating to an attempted kidnapping in Ketner Lake earlier this year for which Sigg also stands accused.
Defense attorneys anticipate asking that the case be sent to juvenile court. The next hearing will be held Nov. 27.

Sigg didn't speak during the brief court hearing in Golden and didn't look at his relatives in the audience.

Eight relatives of Jessica Ridgeway of Westminster also watched proceedings, including her mother. Each wore purple, Jessica's favorite color.

Jessica disappeared Oct. 5 after leaving her home to meet a friend for a walk to school, prompting a massive search by hundreds of volunteers and police. Authorities found her remains five days later in a park seven miles from Jessica's home.
