Roll-over crash near Rush kills one

Around 9:30 Wednesday morning, Allen Rempel was driving southbound on Rush Road, and Colorado statetroopers said the 22-year-old lost control of his vehicle.

Sgt. J.R. Mullins with the Colorado State Patrol said the car rolled multiple times.  Rempel was ejected from the car and died of the resulting injuries.

Colorado State Patrol said Rempel was not wearing a seat belt, and said speed played a role in this crash.

“We do expect excessive speed to play a role here on the dirt road, and that is something we encourage motorists to take heed of when you’re out on a dirt road,” said Mullins.

He added that conditions on dirt and gravel roads can change from smooth to bumpy in an instant, and advises all drivers to drive cautiously when traveling through the country.

According to longtime friend, Steven Leckenvy, Rempel will be greatly missed.

“He was a good guy, fun, loving, caring,” said Leckenvy, who said he considered Rempel to be like a little brother.
