Standoff ends in south Colo. Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

A standoff ends shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday after a woman told police her husband was holding her hostage.

Police said the man peacefully walked out of his house and police did not have to use force.

The standoff started around 11:30 p.m. Friday night when a women called police and said she was not allowed to leave her house.

She said there were guns in the home and that she was not safe.

According to police, negotiators were able to get the woman and her husband on the phone.

Officers said she got out of the house on her own and negotiators worked to get her husband out.

Jose Estrada, 30, came out of the house on his home and was arrested.

Estrada was taken to the El Paso County Jail and faces a charge for false imprisonment and harassment.

Officers said that there was a previous disturbance that happened at the home in September of 2012.

According to police, during that incident, Estrada threatened the same victim with a handgun. Estrada was charged with felony menacing for that incident.

It happened on Jet Wing Place near Astrozon Blvd. and Jet Wing Drive.
