Students at Stetson Hills Elementary school collected hundreds of teddy bears that were donated to the Children's Hospital Colorado at Memorial Hospital.

Students at Stetson Hills Elementary School collected hundreds of teddy bears to donate after the Sandy Hook school shooting. Those teddy bears are now finding homes through the Children's Hospital Colorado at Memorial Hospital.

Michael Yslas' grandson attends Stetson Hills. He said after the shooting in Connecticut, donations started pouring in.

Within a few days, the school had collected hundreds of teddy bears.

However, Sandy Hook Elementary School was overwhelmed with donations from all across the country, so school staff asked that donations be directed to local children's hospitals.

Yslas said students at Stetson Hills were excited to help other children.

Zach, 11, was a patient at the hospital who got to take one of the bears home.

He said the bear will remind him of how happy he was to get out of the hospital.

Doctors at the hospital said they treat 30,000 children every year, so they are always looking for more teddy bear donations.

Yslas said it would be wonderful to see other schools in the community collect teddy bears to help children.
