Abby Acone joined KRDO as its newest StormTracker13 in August 2014! She's honored by the opportunity to forecast for Colorado's ever-changing weather. Before coming to the region, she worked as a reporter and weather anchor in Pasco, Washington - covering anything from investigative pieces, gang crime to the use of taxpayer resources. She's snagged multiple awards for her work. This includes her breaking news coverage of a local Amber Alert and the uncovering a scammer of a timed-race scammer. During her time as a forecaster, she learned to cover thunderstorms and high wind concerns. The adrenaline rush and challenge of covering active weather excites her.

Abby graduated from the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at WSU. Go Cougs! There, she reported and anchored for Cable 8 News - the student-run nightly newscast. Abby also gained experience by acting as talent for a variety of the student-run television shows and KUGR radio. For experience behind the camera, she interned for Sony at the National Association of Broadcasters 2012. In summer of 2011, Abby interned with CBS affiliate KIRO TV in Seattle. There, she first learned to write, track and cut packages. She also acted as a social media producer for the live Seafair Twitter feed.
Abby grew up in Bellevue, WA – home to her frequent Starbucks and hiking fix. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading and spending time with her wonderful husband. Abby can't wait to get to know Colorado Springs community! Don't hesitate to send along any weather questions, photos or a hello!
