Antero Dam gets safety upgrade
A safety upgrade is getting under way at Antero Dam in Park County.
The $14 million project that begins on Monday is needed to make the dam safe.
Denver Water, Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Office of the State Engineer lowered Antero Reservoir by 2 feet in 2011 as a safety precaution to reduce water pressure and seepage from the dam.
Antero Dam was built in 1909 and bought by Denver Water in 1924.
