Families near the Broadmoor have been warned they may want to leave home Saturday afternoon and evening because of the threat of flooding.
A spokeswoman for the City of Colorado Springs said voluntary evacuations have been ordered for many streets west of Cresta Road. The warning is for all homes along the Cheyenne Creek waterway from Mayhurst Avenue to Hulda Lane.
Colorado Springs police said Cheyenne Road will be closed for an indefinite amount of time due to high water levels between Cresta and May Dr.
Fire fighters and police are going door to door warning residents about the flooding risk.
Their advice to those residents is to monitor the weather and creek levels and if you feel you're not safe, take precaution and leave the area.
The flooding is due to steady rain over the last few days that prompted evacuations in some areas off Cheyenne Creek Thursday night.
Unfilled sandbags are available at several fire stations across Colorado Springs including: CSFD Station #5 (2830 West Colorado Avenue); CSFD Station #9 (622 Garden of the Gods Road); CSFD Station #12 (445 Rockrimmon Boulevard); CSFD Station #18 (6830 Hadler View.)
Sand is available for pick up at the Wilson United Methodist Church parking lot at 6460 Flying W Ranch Road.
