Clerk and Recorder’s Office installs high capacity ballot drop-off box at citizens service center
The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder's Office has installed a new high capacity, 24-hour ballot drop-off box at the Citizens Service Center.
The county says the drop-off box is part of a broader initiative to continue to make elections and voting more convenient for El Paso County citizens.
“We opened our first 24 hour drop-off location in 2012 at the Citizens Service Center, and 9,704 voters took advantage of this added convenience,” said Clerk and Recorder Wayne Williams. “Our Elections Department staff sometimes needed to empty the smaller ballot drop-off box hourly, even if a staff member was there offering to accept a ballot by hand. With that sort of overwhelming response, we listened to what the voters were saying and made a change that we think will better serve the people of El Paso County.”
The drop-off box is in the traffic island near the front entrance to the Citizens Service Center. Additional 24-hour drop-offs will be opened at the other three offices of the Clerk & Recorder prior to the Senate District 11 recall election.
Like all 24-hour ballot drop-off locations in the county, the new high capacity box at the Citizens Service Center is secure and will be video monitored during each election.
The El Paso County Citizens Service center is located at 1675 W. Garden of the Gods Road in Colorado Springs.
