EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. -

If you're looking for work and you've been affected by the September flooding, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment is looking for you to fill about 230 temporary positions. Dislocated workers, the long-term unemployed, veterans and migrant seasonal farmworkers are also eligible for the positions.

The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment has received a $4.6 million National Emergency Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to launch a Flood Recovery Jobs Program.

Workers in the program will help with clean up and recovery in the nine counties receiving public assistance from FEMA. Those counties are Boulder, Clear Creek, El Paso, Jefferson, Larimer, Logan, Morgan, Washington and Weld counties.

The temporary work will done on on nonprofit or government properties and projects including cities, counties, departments of public works and state/city parks.
Duties include operating equipment, cleaning and repairing culverts, roads and levees, restoring playgrounds and trails and supervising crews. Workers will also distribute food and clothing and will help secure shelter, among other humanitarian assistance jobs.

Workers could make up to $12,000 for six months of employment.
