A 45-year-old man accused of going on a drunken horseback ride through Boulder has been reunited with his horse and is back on the trail toward his brother's wedding in Utah.
University of Colorado police say witnesses saw Patrick Neal Schumacher of Colorado Springs hit his horse and occasionally wander into traffic near the school Monday. He faces several charges, including animal cruelty and riding under the influence of alcohol.
Police say Schumacher had a small pug in his backpack, as well as beer cans and a black-powder pistol in his saddlebag.
The Daily Camera reports he was traveling from Larkspur, Colo., to his brother's wedding in Bryce, Utah. Schumacher, scheduled to appear in court Oct. 31, says he had to make the 600-mile journey by horse because his driver's license was revoked.
