PUEBLO, Colo. -

The daughter of a 90-year-old woman, who was mugged last Tuesday, is taking action to make sure it doesn’t happen to anyone else.

The crime happened at a Pueblo Walmart on Northern Avenue.

The daughter wants to warn people but chose not to be identified because she fears retailiton.

She said her mother has bruises on her hand from thieves ripping her purse away.

The woman's family is starting a petition to make stores, like Walmart, add more security.

“I want these corporations to make it safe for their customers and not be afraid when they go shopping,” the daughter said.

Pueblo Police Officer Shelly Taylor said theives like to target people who are elderly and alone.

She said times are tough, but mugging is not the answer.

“I don’t think this is a way to make a living. Obviously someone is suffering now,” Taylor said.

The daughter said her mother is in good spirits, but has a message for the people who mugged her 90-year-old mother.

“Find peace in your heart after doing something like that. Realize, you can’t be doing that to other people,” she said.

If you have information about the person who attacked her mother call Crime Stoppers at 719-542-7867.
