Decision 2013: Two El Paso Co. races headed for recount
Updated On: Nov 14 2013 04:58:41 PM CST
The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder's Office says the results of two races in the November 5 general election were close enough to trigger an automatic recount.
Under Colorado law, a mandatory recount is triggered only when the vote margin between candidates or an issue is .5% of the vote for the next closest candidate or issue. The results of two El Paso County races fall into that criteria.
In the tables below, the candidates whose names are in bold will head to a mandatory recount.
Harrison School District 2
Joyce L. Leigh
Doriena S. Longmire
Steven R. Seibert
City of Fountain Council Member – At Large
John Dallas Hathaway
The Clerk and Recorder's Office says it will work with a company called Clear Ballot to complete the recounts. No timeline for when the recounts would be completed was given.
