Authorities say a former Fort Carson civilian employee bragged about being a domestic terrorist and threatened to turn the post into "Fort Columbine."

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Authorities say a former Fort Carson civilian employee bragged about being a domestic terrorist and threatened to turn the post into "Fort Columbine."

Federal authorities have charged Douglas Kunz, a former butcher in the base's commissary, with terroristic threats and disrupting interstate commerce with threats of explosions or fire.

Apart from his reference on Facebook to the 1999 shootings at Columbine High School, Kunz also sent text messages to employees that referenced the Oklahoma City bombing and the November 2009 massacre at Fort Hood, Texas.

Kunz was barred from Fort Carson in March. He told investigators his rants were a way to vent and he did not want to hurt anyone.

When asked about the "Fort Columbine" comment, Kunz blamed it on auto-correct, saying he meant to write "Fort Columbia" in reference to an upcoming trip he was making to the South American country.

Kunz was taken into custody in May. His trial is set for Aug. 18.
