Fight between brothers leads to standoff
The Cañon City Police Department says an early morning standoff that forced the closure of several streets was caused by a fight between brothers.
Officers were called to a home in the 900 block of Whipple Avenue at 4:55 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2013.
Police say two brothers in the home got into a fight and one of the brothers barricaded himself in a bedroom. He told police that his brother was suffering from PTSD, armed, drunk and had assaulted him. Officers helped the man out of the house through the bedroom window. He was taken to St. Thomas Moore Hospital to be checked out.
The other brother surrendered to police a short time later. Jason Ingalsbe, 43, was arrested and is facing charges for 3rd degree assault and felony menacing. He was taken to the Fremont County Detention Center and is being held on $4,000 bond.
9th Street north and south of Whipple, as well as several side streets were closed briefly during the incident. Washington School was also notified of what was happening.
