LA VETA, Colo. -

A wildfire near La Veta in Huerfano County is now 75 percent contained.

The Klikus fire is burning near the Middle Creek area off Huerfano County Road 440 near Mt. Mestas. The fire has burned about 60 acres west of La Veta and south of Highway 160.

Fire crews from Western Colorado are on their way to help on the fire. Around 30 firefighters are expected to double the number of firefighters on scene now.

Initially, emergency notification calls went out to 200 residents. A spokesperson for firefighters said two families were evacuated Tuesday afternoon when the fire started. Since then, cooler temperatures and calm winds have helped fire fighters gain control of the fire. On Tuesday, firefighters report sustained winds of 35 miles-per-hour.

No homes have been damaged.

"I feel blessed to have the crew that I have in La Veta and also our surrounding areas," said Chief David DeTray with the La Veta Fire Protection District. "We've been able to- on the last two fires we've had two weeks apart basically in the same area- we've been able to jump on these fires with 60-plus people."

The Occidental Fire burned around 13 acres. It began Friday May 24. A cause for both fires are both under investigation.
