A Pueblo man was sentenced to the maximum prison term that was allowed in the deaths of three Alamosa teenagers.
A judge on Friday decided Gilbert Sanchez deserved the maximum sentence possible for driving drunk on April 28th of 2012 and causing an accident that killed 18 year old Anisa Montoya and 14-year-olds Serina Sena and Selena Mascernas, all of Alamosa.
Two Pueblo teenagers who were riding in the bed of Sanchez' pickup truck were also hurt in the crash.
Sanchez received 12-year prison terms for the deaths of each of the three girls, 16 years each for child abuse for the injuries to the other two girls.
All the terms are to run consecutively for a total of 68.
The judge said he considered the fact that Sanchez had no prior record, but said in this case he still felt Sanchez deserved the maximum.
