Hikers are keeping an eye out after a person died near the trail

Hikers in Colorado Springs are advising other hikers to watch their step and stay on the trail on Mt. Cutler.

This comes after Colorado Springs police said a group of climbers found a man's body after they came down a trail near Mt. Cutler Saturday evening (04/26/14).

Michael Goouge said he likes to hike on the popular trail, but there are spots where it can be dangerous.

"There are some places where if you take one step wrong, there is not much of a chance where you can catch yourself," he said.

Officers said the man fell down an incline that's more than 200 feet. He was found lying near the edge of a path.

"He had taken a serious tumble and we're investigation whether or not this was accidental or something else. At this point we are not suspicious of foul play," Colorado Springs police Sgt. Jim Jeffcoat said.

Janine Eldridge said she has hiked on Mt. Cutler more than 100 times.

She said she hasn't run into any trouble on the trail, but she always keeps an eye out for danger.

Eldridge said weather can sometimes make the trail unsafe.

Police said no one has been reported missing and they are checking to see if any parked cars may belong to the victim.

Police also said the man had a tattoo, but no other identification.

The El Paso County Coroner's Office will conduct an autopsy to find out exactly how the man died.
