Animal rescue workers saved a horse from an icy pond nearly six feet deep Sunday morning (3/2/14).
The owner found his horse stuck in the Quilan Gulch area at 7 a.m. and tried to rescue it himself with no luck, according to the Loveland Fire Rescue Authority.
An animal rescue team from the Loveland Fire Rescue Authority was called in to help.
Rescue workers said the horse, named Sonny was about 20 feet from the edge of the pond and they had to break frozen ice to get to her.
Sonny was too tired and struggled to climb out on her own, so rescue worked said they had to force her out by wrapping a tarp around her.
Officials said a veterinarian helped the horse warm back and and she is recovering.
