CRAIG, Colo. -

A lightning-caused fire is burning on an estimated 1,600 acres, about 40 miles northwest of Meeker.

Bureau of Land Management officials said Monday that the Citadel Fire in Moffat County is threatening three structures. The 2.5-square-mile fire was reported Sunday and is burning in timber, sagebrush, pinion and juniper trees.

Another lightning-caused fire about 20 miles northwest of Meeker in Rio Blanco County has burned on about one square mile, or about 650 acres. It is threatening one cabin, but firefighters burned vegetation around the cabin to remove fuel for the fire. The Tschuddi Fire was reported Saturday and was 5 percent contained Monday.

Meanwhile rain and higher humidity have helped dampen fire activity at the 170-square-mile West Fork fire complex in southwest Colorado.
