Little girl with terminal cancer gets a birthday parade
Ashlee Wiedeman turned five years old this week. It may not sound like much, but it was a big landmark for this small girl living with terminal cancer.
Her mother says it may be her last birthday, so on Thursday they celebrated.
Little Ashlee has liver cancer.
She's been living with a tumor growing on her lung, that's pressing against her ribs.
But during her party you couldn't tell. Ashlee was too busy becoming a Disney princess, riding along Main Street in downtown Canon City in her horse drawn carriage.
"She loves today she's been talking about it for a week. With terminal cancer, she's the strongest person I’ve ever known. Still up trying to play, showing strength I don't think I’ve ever seen in a child," said Ashlee’s dad, Gary Wiedman.
Sangre De Cristo Hospice & Palliative Care, along with Western Wishes teamed up to make Ashlee's birthday wish become reality.
