Local contractor's license suspended by Teller County

A local contractor won't be doing anymore work in Teller County for six months.
The county told KRDO Newschannel 13, it's suspending Colorado ResCon's license for half a year. A disabled couple, both veterans, from Florissant filed a complaint against the company claiming it ruined their retirement home.
Paperwork from the county's building department states Colorado ResCon made "quite a mess." The Teller County Administrator confirmed the contractor has been suspended from working in the county.
All Darlene and Lance Baker wanted was an ADA compliant bathroom.
"It's a nightmare!" said Darlene about her home.
It started in May 2013, but on Thursday (1/9/14) there was a small victory. The company, Colorado ResCon, that has given them so much stress is suspended from working in the county.
"I was elated!" said Darlene.
The Bakers wanted to retire in their home in Florissant.
"Four joist hanger nails. That's the only thing that's holding up this floor," said Darlene pointing to the shower floor in one of the bathrooms.
Colorado ResCon agreed to make their home ADA compliant. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs gave the Bakers a grant for $67,000 to pay for renovations.
"I can honestly say that until Jack Dennison and Colorado ResCon, we had never had an argument," said Darlene of marriage.
"Three months and four and half days worth of work and all the work was bad!" she said.
The couple was celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary on January 9, trying to forget the mess. Darlene said she and Lance stapled up plastic around their master bathroom shower.
Although they say the VA's Office dropped Colorado ResCon as their contractor, the job is no where near done.
"Every day this is what you get to look at and this is your retirement?" said Darlene.
The owner of Colorado ResCon, Jack Dennison, returned our calls right before the 10:00 newscast on January 9. He disagrees with the county's decision and claims the Baker's complaint is inaccurate.
KRDO Newschannel 13 is meeting with Dennison on Friday, January 10 to bring his side of the story.
