Local youth group helps Black Forest kids
Members of the God Squad, a youth group from the First Church of God in Pueblo, delivered gift cards to people who lost their homes in the Black Forest Fire Saturday.
The group had spent days raising money and reached their goal of raising $1,000. They used it to buy $50 Visa gift cards to give away. The reason for doing so was simple.
"It's good to help people," group member Dawn Wilson said.
Squad members hope recipients will replace sentimental things they lost in the fire.
"Parents are going to find clothing and food and shelter for their kids," Bryan Kelsen said. "But maybe there might be that one thing they had to leave behind and that's kind of low on the list of priorities to be replaced."
For Imanii and Dylan Adams, who lost their home in the fire, it was an unexpected gift.
"I just want to say thank you for bringing this stuff over here and helping us," Dylan Adams said. "It was really sweet of them to do that."
