The El Paso County and Pueblo County Clerk and Recorder's Offices are ramping up to be ready for the upcoming recall elections. State Senators Angela Giron in District 3 and John Morse in District 11 are up for the recalls.
El Paso County Clerk and Recorder Information Officer, Ryan Parsell tells me that with the Morse recall, there will be two questions to consider. The first question will ask you if you want to recall John Morse. The second question will ask if you want his successor, Bernie Herpin. Parsell says there is a mistake you want to avoid, "The recall question has a little bit more weight to it. You need to vote yes or no on it. If you skip that question and then vote on the successor part of the question, the entire ballot is thrown out." Simply put, the successor candidate is only seated if you say yes to the recall. If you say no to the recall, you want Senator Morse to keep his job. That's why the first question is so important. The same logic goes for the Angela Giron recall with successor candidate, George Rivera.
It's expected that both recall elections will have heavy turnout. 69 thousand ballots will go out to registered voters in State Senate District 11 in the Colorado Spring and Manitou area. District 3 in the Pueblo area has 82 thousand registered voters.
