Movie to be filmed in southern Colorado this summer

Filming begins in June on a movie about college grads, alien abductions and cattle mutilations in the Pikes Peak region.
The movie, titled "Out There," will be directed by Bonne' Bartron, a graduate of Woodland Park High School and Colorado State University-Pueblo.
Bartron said the movie was originally scheduled for filming in 2011, but the production company involved wanted to shoot the film in California. So she formed her own production company, Angry Puppy Productions, to work on the movie in Colorado.
"We really want people in Colorado to feel like this is our movie," said Bartron. "This isn't like some random company coming in. This is Colorado's movie. And this is our chance to show the rest of the world all the cool and kind of weird things that happen here in Colorado."
Bartron, 28, describes the picture as a "paranormal thriller-meets stoner comedy." She said the movie isn't based on true story but has characters who are "loosely" based on people she knows.
"Two girls graduate from CSU-Pueblo and move into a gated community," Bartron said. "They tell all kinds of ridiculous stories. Then weird things start happening. People start disappearing. But what's really happening is more terrifying than any of their silly stoner stories."
Bartron said filming is scheduled through June, and will include locations in Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Woodland Park. The movie is scheduled for release in Oct. 2014.
To avoid depending on a major studio for funding, Bartron said she is trying to raise the $200,000 budget herself by Monday. As of Saturday afternoon, 30 people had contributed $11,415.
Bartron said donors will get to see the movie this fall, a year before its official release, and be eligible for prizes such as cameos in the film.
"You can be in the movie, and local businesses can sponsor the film," she said.
