National Guard Recruiter Charged With Theft

Published On: Jan 21 2014 08:25:42 PM CST

An Army National Guard recruiter in Colorado has been charged with fraudulently collecting $28,000 in referral bonuses for recruits.

District Attorney Dave Young said Tuesday 25-year-old Christopher Thomas Clark faces one count of theft.

No phone number could be found for Clark, who is free on $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 18 to be formally advised of the charges.

Details of the alleged theft weren't immediately known.

Maj. Gen. H. Michael Edwards, adjutant general of the Colorado National Guard, says the investigation has the full support of the guard.

He said the alleged theft is unacceptable if true.

The charge is a class 3 felony, which normally carries a sentence of four to eight years in prison.
