COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

A Colorado Springs couple lost their home on Chaparral Drive to an explosion and their neighbors have banded together to help them out.

Every time Mary Adkins and Mark Adkins come to their burnt home, it's difficult.

"I started crying and was emotional, especially with the holiday season," Mary Adkins said.

Mark Adkins still remembers the day they lost their home more than a month ago.

"To look at the house and to realize how tragic it was, and how lucky we are that I could get Mary out of that place in one piece," Mark Adkins said.

But even though they lost a lot, their neighbors have been trying to get them back on their feet.

Linda Behner is one of those neighbors.

Behner and many of the neighbors had a block party for the Adkins, receiving money, household items and gift cards. Not only are the adults helping, but the children are also.

"I gave a bear and I heard (the Adkins) keep the bear inside their truck and that means a lot to me," said 12-year-old Jamaren Ungvarsky.

The Adkins are grateful for the help.

"They have come together and they're like family to us," Mary Adkins said.

If you want to help the Adkins out you can go to any Key Bank and ask to donate to the Mary and Mary Adkins Recovery Fund.
