An avalanche killed one person and injured three others in the backcountry near Vail Tuesday.

The man who died has been identified as Anthony Siebert. KMGH reports Siebert is the grandson of Vail founder Pete Siebert.
Eagle County Sheriff's spokeswoman Jessie Mosher says the slide happened at around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in East Vail Chutes, an area between Vail Mountain and Vail Pass.
She says the three survivors don't have life-threatening injuries.
The avalanche danger in the area is rated as considerable. The Colorado Avalanche Information Center says slides there are becoming harder to trigger but when slides develop they are very large and dangerous.

Five people have died in avalanches in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana in the last two weeks.
