WOODLAND PARK, Colo. -

Thousands of people came to Woodland Park to cheer on the world's best cyclists Friday morning (8/22/14).

The city above the clouds was the starting point of stage 5 of the USA Pro Challenge.

Highway 24 was closed today for about 40 minutes through town because of the race.

"There are a lot of vendors who are staying open extended hours, a lot of activities for the kids, so closure just adds to the fun," Jan Gilpin said.

Riders had to endure a 100 mile journey through Colorado's high country to reach the stage 5 finish line in Breckenridge.

Stage six of the race will be happening tomorrow in Vail.

The race is an individual time trial course. It will start at 1:05 p.m. and is expected to end by 3:50 p.m.

This is a ten mile course that will take place on I-70.

Expect lane closures and delays on I-70 west when you are approaching Vail starting at about 10 a.m. and reopening to happen at about 6 p.m.

East and westbound exit 180 is scheduled to be closed from I-70 at about 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
