Pueblo police are looking for a man who they believe attempted to kidnap two teenagers this week.
Police say Tuesday night a man tried to abduct an 18-year-old woman on the 1900 block of West 11th Street as she was outside, working on her car. According to police, a man drove up, got out of his truck and asked the woman if she wanted to go for a ride.
"She basically told the guy 'No,' that he can leave," Sgt. Eric Gonzales said.
The suspect didn't leave. The woman ran and managed to escape.
Just 24 hours before the attempted abduction on Pueblo's westside, a similar incident occurred on Pueblo's eastside. A 13-year-old girl was sitting on her porch when a man drove up and got out of his car. Police say the man grabbed the girl by the arm and tried to pull her out of the yard. She, too, got away.
In both cases, the teenagers were able to escape unharmed. Police say the way the man approached both teens was similar, leading police to believe it's the same person.
"After talking from the vehicle, then they both tried to get out of their truck and then grab the girls," Gonzales said.
Neighbors say reports of attempted kidnappings just make them more cautious watching over their own children.
"One minute your kid can be in the front yard, the next minute they're gone," said Destiny Fimbres.
"With it being this close to home, I'm really gonna keep a really good eye on them now you know," said Brandon Vigil.
Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male, in his early to mid-30s. Police say he was driving a dually-type truck, with four rear tires, dark tinted windows and two full-sized doors.
Those who have information are urged to call Pueblo Crime Stoppers at 542-STOP.
Pueblo police say it's the third attempted abduction in less than two weeks.
