There are still no suspects in the homicide of a 20-year-old woman found strangled in her apartment Thursday. Angelina Sicola was a sophomore at UCCS and a Taekwondo instructor with a black belt.
Sicola’s body was found in her apartment at the Featherstone Apartments on Half Turn Road, near Austin Bluffs and Academy in Colorado Springs.
"She was my friend, she was my "sidekick" as we taught together," wrote Meredith Brents Muhs on Facebook. "She will ALWAYS have a place in my heart."
Sicola was an assistant instructor at the U.S. Taekwondo Center in Monument.
“The U.S. Taekwondo Center is deeply saddened to learn of the unfortunate and untimely passing of our dear friend, colleague, and student Angelina Sicola. She was a deeply valued employee, person, and member of our Taekwondo family," said Master Jay Lee in a statement. "We will continue to draw from the memory of Angelina's infectious smile, determination, and caring spirit."
Neighbors at Sicola's apartment complex remained on edge Saturday.
"My fiancee is actually the same age pretty much, goes to the same school, lives by herself," said Dylan Hoyal. "So, pretty scared. We're actually moving out because of it right now."
KRDO Newschannel 13 talked to another tenant in the process of moving out Saturday and a third woman considering it. That's despite the thought around the complex that the crime may not have been random.
"It seems kind of calculated, honestly," said Hoyal.
