5 year old boy killed in Springs apartment fire

The Colorado Springs Police Department says a 5-year-old boy is dead and a woman is in the hospital after a fire at the Hill Park Apartments.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

The Colorado Springs Police Department says a 5-year-old boy is dead and a woman is in the hospital after a fire at the Hill Park Apartments.

The fire was reported at 9:28 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2013.

The woman who was injured in the fire was taken to the hospital. She is expected to recover. An autopsy will be performed on the little boy who died.

Earlier Friday firefighters said this began as a mattress fire. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The complex is located at 4320 E. Pikes Peak Avenue, near Pikes Peak and Murray Blvd.

Police have not released any names or information about the relationship between the boy who died and the woman who was injured.
