Craftwood Inn closed its doors and couples will lose their deposits.

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. -

Couples who had planned to have their wedding day at an established Manitou Springs restaurant are scrambling to find a new venue with less money in their pockets.

The Craftwood Inn closed Sunday. Its owner said he had been struggling in the last few years, and the recent fires and floods took a toll on the restaurant.

"We're really heartbroken about what happened, we've put in the last 10 years of our life in this restaurant," owner Dave Symonds said. "We are going to lose our business and possibly our house."

Soon-to-be brides and grooms are going to lose their deposits. Symonds said he can't pay it back.

"We do apologize to everybody who has put in the deposits," he said. "But we don't have the money."

Craftwood is working with couples who left large deposits, offering food and helping them find other venues and services at discounted prices.

It's the least bride-to-be Natasha Vazquez expects. She had left a $3,500 deposit for a July 4 wedding.

"We've been spending money elsewhere for this and had an idea in our head what our wedding was going look like, and now we just kind of have to start from zero," she said.

Vazquez already has her wedding gown, the bridesmaids' dresses, florist, bakery and save the dates sent out. Now the wedding could be postponed.
